A tool for your own writing - used openly.
Proofmark rewrites the wording of prose you wrote, keeps your data, citations and claims exactly where they were, and tells you precisely what it changed. It helps authors express their own work more clearly. It is not a way to hide that a tool was used.
What it is for
Rewording your own drafts so they read more clearly, especially if English is not your first language.
Reducing word-for-word overlap with your own earlier drafts or reports, while every number, citation, cross-reference and equation stays exactly as you wrote it.
If you reuse text from your own published work, check your journal's policy on text recycling and cite the earlier paper - rewording does not replace that.
What it is not for
Presenting someone else's work as your own, or disguising text you copied.
Hiding the use of AI from a journal, a supervisor or a university. We do not offer, advertise or support ways to get past plagiarism checks or AI-writing checks, and we never will.
Producing your content. The service does not write new sections, invent data or results, or add citations - it only rewords prose that is already there.
Always declare it
Most journals and many universities now ask authors to declare AI-assisted editing. Every finished file comes with a short AI-use statement you can paste into your submission: it says which paragraphs were reworded, confirms that numbers, citations and cross-references were checked and left unchanged, and leaves responsibility for the content with the authors, where it belongs. Edit it to match exactly what you did.
Nothing is hidden from you, or from a reviewer
With every manuscript you get the rewritten file, the same edit as tracked changes in Word - so every change can be read, accepted or rejected one by one - and a change log that measures how far the wording moved and lists every paragraph that was left unchanged, and why.
For supervisors, editors and universities
The tracked-changes copy shows exactly what the service changed and what it did not. Titles, headings, tables, captions, equations and the reference list are never altered. If a student or author shows you our AI-use statement, it describes the edit accurately; if you have questions about how it works, or want to discuss use within your institution, contact us.
If we learn that the service is being used to misrepresent who wrote a piece of work, we may close the account.
